References to how Russia/USSR and China designate equipment and ammunition

So, I've been doing research for a few settings and I keep getting this nasty snag in the form of not knowing how China and the USSR/Russia designate their various systems. My -admittedly- horrible google-fu didn't help matters in the slightest and so far I've been only getting games like War Thunder and Armored Warfare as references with a smattering of Wikipedia.

So, after failing repeatedly to find a guide, I decided to ask you guys for help.

Is there a guide that allows me to understand how the USSR/Russia and China designate equipment or am I destined to failure in doing so?

Maybe you can find useful information on the Chinese Internet and some Chinese social platforms, but the Chinese Internet is usually full of false information posted by accounts called "marketing accounts", and you need to be able to identify them to get useful information.
