First of all we think that this device belongs to the designs of the First World War and its trench combats except that no, it is much later, it was during the Second World War that Marius Fayt imagined it. The patent of " Projectile" was requested on June 6, 1939, issued on September 20, 1940 and published on January 2, 1941. It is an explosive, or incendiary, smoke-producing, asphyxiating, etc. projectile. with time or percussive priming and intended to be launched either by hand or by a spring-loaded projection device. This projectile is essentially constituted by a metal envelope containing the charge and the primer in the shape of a crescent with a flat or slightly helical face, so that when such a projector is properly launched, it can take on a rapid rotational movement; which gives it a great range in view of the necessary launching force, good stability on the trajectory and therefore satisfactory precision

Shape and description of handling and flight characteristics suggest, that this was kind of a boomerang.
Hopefully this thing would never behave, as it is known from boomerangs ... to come back to the thrower !
