RFB RF-1 Channel Wing STOL touring
« on: October 16, 2011, 07:26:50 pm »
From an Australian what-ifer attempt to build a model of it
(see http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,21379.1080.html )
Tophe,
I found Glenn's German mystery aircraft in Jane's All the World's Aircraft 1963-1964 under the Rhein-Flugzeugbau GmbH (who also built the Fantrainer) entry on page 71 - it's the RFB RF 1 six seat channel-wing STOL monoplane:

I added comment: "In JAWA 1964-65, there is only (without picture): 'Development of the RFB RF 1 STOL touring aircraft, described in previous editions of Jane's, has been discontinued. RFB is now concentrating its efforts on the servicing and overhaul of military and civil aircraft'.".
And from this http://www.transportphotos.com/air/photo/WB00031-27Martin , the picture of this weird twin-engine plane is:

Tophe,

the proper link for the picture is http://www.transportphotos.com/air/photo/WB00031-27 - your URL has a "Martin" at the end which makes it nonfunctional.

Martin

Thanks Martinbayer. :)
(The "Martin" there came from your own signature it seems, as you are the discoverer of this precious link, I made a copy&paste mistake) ;)

I'm quite surprised that the RF-1 seems to have 2 engines because it seems to have only on propeller:

2 lateral engines driving a central propeller is not impossible at all, see http://modelarchives.free.fr/Bestiaire/ROB_BI_P/index.html
