Hi,

in that Renault site,I found many Caudron unknown projects,
but no pictures or drawings appear to them,such as C.850,
C.820,C.910 and C.960.

And here is the R.300 or CR.300 single seat mid-wing project,
but I don't know if it was a fighter or racer aircraft ?.

I have several (2-3?) issues of "Le Trait d'Union" with articles about Caudron projects, which ones should I scan and post? or build a list?

I have two complete lists of Caudron aircraft and projects that nicely complement each other, but alas no scanner at present time (otherwise I would contribute a lot more pics). I need to find the time to recreate an Excel file from them... later this year hopefully.

As for the site you mentioned, being a big Renault fan (I actually run my own website on the French brand and all their productions) I know it quite well. It is an interesting starting point to everything related to the Renault brand and its multiple productions, but is not devoid of mistakes, so always make sure to cross your information with other sources.

I have checked my Trait d’Union collection. At last, there are 5 issues that are concerned, wich is far too much to scan all, sorry. But the main part of it (and all pictures and 3-views and profiles) is about built aircraft (prototypes or mass-produced), out of scope here. For unbuilt ones:
* Issue 173:
C-95 (1925) mentionned as developped, ignored
* Issue 174:
C-200 (1930) single engine high wing tourism, no drawing
C-270/1 (1934) C-270 with a Salmson 7Aca of 105hp
C-271/3 (1936) C-271 with a Lorraine 5Pb of 110hp
C-284 (1933) Phalène with a Chaise 4 of 135hp
* Issue 176:
C-370 (1933) C-360 racer with a Baudot “Complexe” (32 cylinders in line) engine
C-431 (1979 replica) C-430 with a Régnier of 165hp
C-691 (1937) C-690 aerobatic
C-695 (1938) C-690 derivative, unknown
C-790 (1938) 2-seat maybe derivative of C-690
* Issue 177:
C-442 (1935) C-440 with Renault 6Q-02/03 engines
C-443 (1935) C-440 with Renault 6Q-04 engines
C-470 (1938) 4-engined Goëland with Renault engines
* Issue 178:
C-639 (1943) C-635 with a Argus As-10 of 240hp, maybe built unknown
C-650 (1935) 3-seat fighter derivative of C-640
C-715 (1938) C-710 with a Renault of 650hp
CR-780 (1939?) Cyclone fighter with a Renault 468 of 500hp and contra-rotative propellers, 530km/h estimated
-----------
C-300: not found, BUT, in issue 176, before the C-360 racer:
“1931 (…) At that time, Marcel Riffard was working at the O.M.I. that produced Chaise engines. (…) for the racer aircraft of the Suzanne Deutsch de la Meurthe Cup (…) with the help of Georges Otfinovsky, he designed an aircraft of lifing body type named MR-300. With a span of 6,20m, its lifting area was 7m². But (…) officials did not gave budget to develop the OMI engine and Marcel Riffard had chosen to join the Caudron staff.”

Thank you my dear Tophe very much,

and here is some additions;

C.95 was probably transport aircraft developed from C.91.
C.790 was actually a derivative of C.690 as magazine Avions.
C.900 was three seat twin engined fighter to 1937 C.3 competition.
C.99 was two seat fighter to 1925 C.2 competition

About the R.300, from "Les avions Caudron-Renault", by Harry Robinson, Docavia publisher :

It was a project of racer designed by Marcel Riffard and Otfinovsky, for the Deutsche-de-la-Meurthe competition of 1932. Only a scaled mock-up was made, and tested in a wind tunel.
Engine was to be a Flat-8 configuration, 8 liters, 320 HP at 3,000 rpm. It was never built too.

Projected datas : Span 6.25m x Lengh 5.75m - Wing aera 7m² - Total weight 770kg

Sorry for the quality, by this book is greater than my A4 scanner ...

Sorry for this mistake,

C.95 was two seat trainer developed from C.91 as ET2 design.
C.99 was a two seat observation aircraft for the A.2 1923 competition;

We can change the name of this topic to Caudron Projects.

The little-known Caudron Deville C.240 four-seat prototype:

Hi,

in 1937 C.2/C.3 for two/three seat fighter competition,the main tenders were;
Hanriot H.220-2 (or SNCAC NC.600),Potez P-670 & P-671,SNCASE SE.100,SE.101
& SE.102,Breguet Br.700,Delanne DL-120,Wibault twin engined fighter,Payen Pa.323
& PA.310 CB and Caurdon C.900.

The Caurdon C.900 was two seat low-wing fighter project,powered by two 1250 hp
Isotta Fraschini Zeta RC 42 engines,the motors were mounted under the wing and
it had a twin tail fin,with a slim fuselage only from front and rear,two examples were
never completed.

Interesting. The aircraft is said to be called the "Aviocar", a roadable derivative of the C.432. I can see no other piece of information here on that particular project.

From what I gather here, the image and text suggest that the Aviocar could make good use of a Tampier engine used for taxiing that could be easily folded out from the fuselage, but there is no indication that this was actually planned in the Aviocar.

This project appears in an article by René Tampier, starting in this page:
http://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k6555455p/f38.image
In this article, Tampier showed possible applications of his ideas to various existing aircraft: Caudron C.430 (misnamed C.432), Cierva C.30, Nieuport NiD.941.
It seems clear to me that these projects were not endorsed by the constructors themselves. Maybe they were approached by Tampier, but even this is unsure.

Hi,

the Caudron C.810 (first allocated) was three seat twin engined fighter project of 1940,
powered by two Renault engines.

New to me, the Chappedelaine-Desgrandschamps-Caudron Aérogyre of 1934. I haven't found this Chappedelaine project via the search engine.

Hi,

in 1937,and for French Specification C.2/C.3,the Caudron also submitted the C.850,it
was a three seat heavy fighter powered by two 450 hp Renault R00/01.

Hi,

also C.850 was re-allocated to a motor glider project,developed from C.800 series,powered
by one pusher engine,mounted in a pylon above the fuselage and before cockpit.

That R300 is pretty cool! Might be among the earliest aircraft designed with a flat horizontally opposed aircraft like pretty much all modern piston planes.

Hi,

the Caudron C.750 was a four seat project version of C.800 Ramier tourist aircraft,powered
by one 140 hp Renault 4 Pei engine.

Hi,

the C.820 was a single seat high performance glider project developed from C.800.

"TU magazine" being actually the excellent French publication "Le Trait d'Union", not a magazine in the general sense of the word since it was never sold in newsstands or at booksellers, only by subscription (like Skyways or the AAHS Journal in the U.S. for instance).

Also in TU issue 179,

the Caudron C.840 was acrobatic glider Project,developed from C.800.

Hi,

the Caudron CR.830 was a project,intended for 1936 T.3 competition of army co-operation
and trainer aircraft,resemble a derivative of C.670,but powered by two 200 hp Renault 6Q
engines.

Hi,

the Caudron C.812 was a glider project developed from C.811.
