UWAL identifies this machine as the McDonnell "Lil Henry" (1951). But, it's pretty obvious that this was a wind tunnel model of the XV-1 convertiplane (first flight, July 1954).

The open-framed XH-20 'Little Henry' jet-tip helicopter had already flown in 1947.
