Hi,

the Canadair CL-45 was ASW helicopter project,CL-52 was Boeing B-47B
and CL-61 snow mobile project, what were the Canadair CL-65 (old design)
and CL-212 ?.

The CL-52 was a B-47B loaned in 1956 to the Royal Canadian Air Force to test the big Orenda Iroquois turbojet for the Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow interceptor.

It caused the frame to warp and the plane was scrapped upon return to the USA

Hesham,

The Canadair CL-212 was a hovercraft design.

Thank you my dear Apophenia,

and do you think we can speak about Canadair aircraft list from CL-1
to CL-100,or that is hard.

A comprehensive Canadair list would be difficult.

Molson lists 23 projects in his Canadian Aircraft since 1909 (along with all the built types, of course). Others are available elsewhere. That would make a start but nowhere near a complete list.

Edit: Canadair CL-0 to CL-100 list revised and now complete -- thanks to boxkite! ;D

Apophenia,

Do you know "Canadair - The First 50 Years" written by Pickler and Milberry (CANAV Books, Toronto 1995 / ISBN 0921022077)? It's a good reference for a designation list, but - as usual - my copy is somewhere in a pile of boxes in the loft ...

Cheers boxkite! I meant to ask if anyone had a copy of "Canadair - The First 50 Years" ;D

Ignoring my own plans for the afternoon ;) , here are the lists from the mentioned book.

Enjoy!

Canadair CL-70 - production RAT (Remote Articulated Track) snow mobile (35 hp VW), 1956

As a side note, it's official Canadian Army and US Army designation was Carrier, Cargo, Amphibious, Articulated. By 1963, production examples were being fitted with a VW 4 cylinder Air-cooled engine (horizontally opposed 4 stroke) rated at 36 hp.

and CP-107 as anther designs ?.

Hesham: With "CL-106" and "CL-107", JAWA mistakeningly assumed that Canadair designation and Department of National Defence designations were directly related. They weren't (at least not in any methodical way).

CC-106 and CP-107 were strictly military designations for two of Canadair's Britannia-based designs. The CC-106 Yukon military transport was the Canadair CL-44-6 (4 x Roll-Royce Tyne 11s). The CP-107 Argus maritime patrol aircraft was the Canadair CL-28 (4 x Wright R-3350 TC18EA1).

My dear Apophenia,

but for CC-106 & CP-107,they were appeared in 1962 & 1963,although we will
wait to see the pages of those designation to can judge well.

I have attempted to reorganize as best as possible the various Canadair related topics on this forum.
This involved splitting a few posts from certain topics to start separate ones, merging topics covering the same subjects, renaming certain topics to replaced "C.L." by the accurate CL-" (so they can be found more easily in search engines), fixing errors (CL-286) and duplicate images, etc.

Here is a list of all the main topics dealing with Canadair projects or built types (other topics exist, but they merely mention Canadair in passing):

Canadair CL-13 "Sabre" jet fighter and proposed derivatives (CL-53, CL-76)
Canadair CL-21: a short-lived planned replacement for the DC-3
Canadair CL-29, CL-31 and CL-33 ASW proposals
Early Canadair unmanned projects (CL-20, CL-36, CL-54, CL-65, CL-85, CL-87)
Canadair CL-40, CL-50, Bristol/Canadair/Convair BE.25 Orion-powered airliner
Canadair CL-41 Projects
Canadair business aircraft projects (CL-41, CL-53, CL-69, CL-95)
Canadair's VTOL projects before the CL-84 (CL-62, CL-72, CL-73, CL-74, CL-84)
Canadair CL-44 for the USAF?
Conroy Colossus (a modification of the Canadair CL-44)
Canadair CL-44 Model Designations
Canadair CL-45 ASW Helicopter Project
USAF T-36A trainer (Beechcraft Model 46 / Canadair CL-15, CL-42, CL-60)
Canadair CL-84 « Dynavert »
Canadair/General Dynamics CL-84 Projects
Canadair CL-89 and CL-289 surveillance drones
Canadair CL-99
Canadair CL-200
Canadair CL-43 and CL-204 STOL and early CL-215 development
Canadair CL-212 air-cushion vehicle
Canadair CL-227, CL-327 and CL-427 VTOL drones
Canadair CL-246 tilt-wing transport projects
Canadair CL-610 project

Further work needs to be done, especially regarding the various CL-84 topics, but it's a start.

A lot of BRAND NEW contents added to the forum today, notably business aircraft projects, drone projects and unbuilt Sabre derivatives, most never posted before.
Take the time to explore the updated topics list, it's worth it!

Many thanks and admiration for sharing all that work and passion.

Antonio

Molson and Taylor describe the CL-66, Canadair's in-house designation for converted/new build re-engined Convair CV-440s. Canadair had bought the unsold CV-440s, as well as CV-440 production jigs and tools when Convair phased out the type's production to make room for CV-880 production in San Diego. Canadair re-engined the three inherited CV-440s with Napier Eland turboprops, redesignating the lot CV-540C. Then, Canadair received a Canadian government contract for ten new CL-66B cargo and passenger aircraft, used as CC-109s by RCAF Air Transport Command from 1960 until the last two were decommissioned in 1979.

Not "CL-540", but at least three Canadair documents (ads and inhouse report) calling the aircraft the Canadair 540.

Here's a circa-1957 documentary commissioned by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) entitled, "Birth of a Giant," portraying the development and construction of the Canadair CL-28 Argus, including flight of the prototype (RCAF 20710, squadron coded VN-710). It looks like there is even a Wikipedia entry on the film (link.)

Ignoring my own plans for the afternoon ;) , here are the lists from the mentioned book.

Enjoy!
I know this is a old thread, but thought I’d take a chance. Is there any additional coverage of the CL-83 (CARDE Snow Goose) in this book or is it limited to its inclusion in the list? I’m researching the early Black Brant rockets and information about Canadair’s involvement early in the program is pretty limited.

Thanks
