Great stories! I particularly liked the story of Edward Busk and the associated links to his past. Remarkable men whose contributions were significant to the British Royal Aircraft Factory and to the general knowledge of aviation. Thanks!

Some of these figures and related trials and experiments are also covered in the excellent History Press book Most Secret: The Hidden History of Orford Ness by Paddy Heazell, 2010 (2013 pbk, reprint 2016).

Thanks for posting the link. Far too often the work of the many scientists and mathematicians linked to the RAE and NPL is dismissed as 'theoretical' and somehow of less value than that of the staff in industry, regretably occasionally by the designers and engineers themselves. In truth they did much to aid in the development of aviation, providing essential support, new ideas and advice.
