Another plea for help to anyone with a collection of Janes from the late 1960s or
early 1970s.
There was a photo showing of planned US Navy guns including the 8in 203mm Mk71 and the
abortive twin Mk66 but also a spherical mounting for a 3in gun which may have been a
competitor to the OTO Melara.
I had a photocopy of this for many years and wanted to post it here to see if anyone knew
more about the 3in gun. Lost at the moment
 
The Twin 8" Mark 66 was the same which to be used on the American Kiev?

Er sorry. I don't see either the Jane's photo of the row of gun designs or the round 3 inch turret in the links.

Through deck cruiser with twin 8" gun in a spherical turret. Isn't this twin turret the Mark 66 you mentioned?

Sorry I don't seem to be making myself clear.
I need the actual photo from Jane's because it is the only image I have seen of the 3 inch turret,
Please stop mentioning the bigger guns. I am of course aware of them.
