The navy type 93 attack-bomber (Mitsubishi 7-shi twin engine carrier base attack bomber)
The aircraft carrier "Akagi" went into commission, and the IJN which could make the room the fuselage size which can be used from the carrier directed development of large carrier attack bomber to Mitsubishi (in 1930) in 1930 for the purpose of using twin-engined carrier attack bomber from the aircraft carrier.
The IJN’s requirement was equipped with two 500 horsepower engine, and could carry 1ton of bomb (torpedo). Mitsubishi designed this aircraft cooperated with engineer Mr.Betty of British Blackburn company, but it wasn't possible to make this aircraft meet the IJN’s requirement. Also the request contents were also change, so redesigned and prototype was completed in 1932.
It was revealed that course holding, service ceiling and field of front vision were lacking as a result of field-application test, and Mitsubishi readjusted in sequence, but the IJN assumed that it was not suitable for the carrier aircraft.
And the significance which develops large carrier attack bomber also faded because 9-shi medium land attack bomber tested then (later type 96 land attack bomber) was excellent, and this aircraft ended after 11 planes were produced including experimental production model.
The name of type 93 land attack bomber were adopted as the first land attack bomber of the IJN, but the airplanes produced already was used as a trainer of a twin-engined land airplane because it was lack of the ability as practical bomber.
Further, the abbreviation sign put on this airplane [G1M] wasn't given in adoption at first. When arrangement change in the abbreviation sign was performed later, this abbreviation sign put on 8-shi medium attack aircraft originally was given to this airplane.

First G1M: Great design, love it. Second G1M: almost a classic (it paved the way for the "Nell"), a beauty too. Thanks for the info.
