Reportedly died of the flu of all things. Sounds unlikely till you realize he was a Jehovahs Witness, and they eschew modern medicine. Given that he lived a pretty strenuous lifestyle, was in need of hip replacement and was a vegetarian, I guess it's not too unlikely that something mundane like influenza could take him out.
