What is the best technically oriented book on the Avro Lancaster? Would it be that by Francis Mason (1989 Aston book)?

Hi Paoleati,

I think that book is better; The Avro Lancaster, Manchester and Lincoln: A Comprehensive Guide for the Modeller (SAM Modellers Datafile 4)

Will have to check, though it seems to be out of print. Based on a couple of books I have seen from the same series, the illustrative coverage is good but there are no test reports, structural analyses etc.

Yes, that is correct. I only have one other Lancaster book, the Crowood one by Ken Delve, which is probably better for your requirements, but it's not amazing.

Yes my dear Paul,

I forget it,it is more interesting than my one.

Mason's book is very extensive . It also contains a full
individual aircraft list.
Not cheap !
If you like to know more about the intial
Lancaster story at a low price I can recommend you
Vol1 No.6 in the excellent 'Twentyfirst Profile' series.(magazine type)
Long out of print but some still available via Ebay..

Dear Mister Hesham (yes, I need your enlightened help :-[ ...),

I am going to seem to you ridiculous, even stupid, but would you know how to tell me the diameter (and producer if possible) of the various types of propellers who equipped the different Lancaster (Merlin and Bristol engine) ? I do not manage to find these data at least basic in my (poor !) documentation ... even on the web !

In advance thank you for your help (whatever is the outcome !)

Respectful greetings

Tonton
