The Hawk was heard saying as he left, "I do this 'flying' thing for a living chump"

Hopefully it wasn't hurt; it's not hard to slice open fingers with RC plane / multirotor propellers.

The model is a slope soaring glider called an Alula. It is made of a rubbery foam material something like packing foam.

The props on quadcopters can be razor sharp and are made of nylon or glass filled nylon which could easily take the feet or other parts off a bird unlucky enough to tangle with one. It looks like the pilot may have powered off to keep from hurting the bird. Most birds of prey are protected and injuring or killing one could lead to a lot of trouble for the quads owner.

According to the Daily Telegraph, you're correct.
