I am looking for any books available on ballistic missile systems. If you guys have any good recommendations, they would be most welcome. Preferably on the more recent Russian and Chinese long range (ICBM and SLBM) systems.

Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces by - Pavel Podvig

Jane's Strategic Weapon Systems - unfortunately about $1600 I believe.

Natural Resources Defense Council - Nuclear Weapons Databook - British, French and Chinese Nuclear Weapons - older 1994 but includes delivery systems.

For Russia and China about late 90's on mostly in periodicals and the internet (like right here at SP) is where I have seen stories on the most modern systems.

Steven Zaloga's book:
http://www.amazon.com/Kremlins-Nuclear-Sword-Strategic-1945-2000-ebook/dp/B00IBYYX82/ref=la_B002JHPXYK_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1395974443&sr=1-1

Zaloga's book and Podvig's book make a formidable combination. The former concentrates more on the political-industrial side of things, talking for example about a lot of the infighting and competitions between the design teams. The latter is easily the most detailed look at Soviet/Russian strategic weapon systems out there. I would highly recommend both of them.

Don't forget, there's a site for that too:

Thanks guys! Podvig's book was exactly what I was looking for. The other ones look pretty interesting too.

About Jane's Strategic Weapon Systems, I would try Amazon and EBay sometimes and look for those books since some sellers sells them for $50-$100. I just recently picked up a Jane's Strategic Weapon Systems 2008 edition for $50 EBay. The two Russian books are on my wishlist and will get them one of these days.

For some historical background, ICBM by G. Harry Stine does a good job as he was there. he is also one of the fathers of modern model rocketry.

Back in 1979 there was a firm called Salamander who gave us this volume which covered everything in one book.
Still available used and despite inaccuracies is a visual feast.
