Basic repro desk model of 50s BOAC Hypersonic airliner (really Bristol 198 SST)

Not particularly scale or a model but I had to have this.

Described by the seller as a 1/144 BOAC Hypersonic Airliner. It is a pretty basic homemade job but it captures the look and feel of the models that sat on Travel Agents counters in the 50s and vaguely resembles some of the planes seen in "Jeff Hawke" strips and "Eagle" magazines and books.
As a BOAC and what-if nut I had to have it.

Max speed: 1,400mph; 6 Bristol Olympus jet engines, 6 crew & 122 pax.

Well-spotted, Retrofit. Indeed it is! Here is a different configuration with a so-called "gothic canard."

Congratulations Ralph - looks like you got an early Bristol 198 SST model. Looks pretty identical to the one in the book, as well, so its probably genuine.

I sure hope for Ralph that it is. Still, the impeccable condition of the paint (and its whiteness) plus the use of the standard wooden stand so common to all the Southeast Asian custom builders suggests it's probably a modern take on the old model.
 
Thanks everyone for digging up the Bristol 198 picture. I thought the model looked familiar.

The seller was quite open that it is only a Far East repro but at 30 Pounds it is a lot cheaper than an original would have been. It will go nicely with my BOAC and SST collections.
