The German engineer Alois Riedly had filed a patent (N°709077) in 1937 for a helicopter
using two pairs of intersecting rotors, the two pairs fitted with different rotor shaft angles.
Riedl later worked for the Henschel Flugzeugwerke and maybe a project for a helicopter
with intersecting rotors was actually started there (possible designation P.77), but not
proceeded with.

Ah, yes, this patent drawing is shown in the mentioned book, too, described as
"helicopter with lowest glide ratio" but without further explanation. Interesting to read,
that it was assigned to Henschel .
As I understand, the aim of this one as to reduce drag, whereas the other one (with
four rotors) was about a method to achieve stability.
