...This museum in San Diego has a *long ton* of images, including some of the Sea Dart that I haven't seen before. And then there's *this* one that literally had me rolling on the floor. Which was rather inconvenient considering how difficult it is to get off said floor with this fake leg of mine.

Actually, DHC did something basically the same with Caribou models in the 1950s. I seem to recall they were after quick turn around times between design changes, plus freedom from wind tunnel schedules. After testing on a truck, the final model was flown on top of an Otter.
