in US Navy competition for long-range patrol flying boat or SD-116-23,the main tenders were;

Boeing Model-337 and Model-344 (XPBB-1)
Chance Vought VS-301
Consolidated BM-7 & BM-8 a versions of Model-31 (XPB4Y-1)
Martin M-180,M-181 & M-183

the source is;

The Lone Ranger prototype flew well and was considered promising, however the program was cancelled to free Boeing production capacity for B-29 bombers.

The XPBB-1 was never called the "Lone Ranger", but the Sea Ranger!!

Thanks, Jemiba. I'd never heard about that nickname for the XPBB-1, but it does make a lot of sense when you think of it...

Not XPB4Y-1. That was a naval version of the Liberator.
The Model 31 Corregidor was the XP4Y-1 (a patrol, not a patrol bomber).
