Hi Hesham!

It isn't based on Il-6; it is Il-6 . This project from 1941-42 was the first one which obtained Il-6 designation. But as it was cancelled on project stage, the index was reassigned to another aircraft - the more known prototype of long-range bomber. The two designs are totally different, they have nothing common apart from the author and the designation.

Several months before the outbreak of the war the Ilyushin Design Bureau began development of a heavy armoured attack aircraft with a greater bomb load and longer range than the TsKB-55; 57 / IL-2. Initially the plane had a twin-boom scheme, pulling and pushing the propellers, but soon the exotic variant / also known as MSh-2 - Fig.1)

Designated TsKB-60, the original project envisaged an all-metal low-wing twin-tailed monoplane powered by two AM-38 engines.
It was planned to produce it in two versions, a single-seater and a twoseater with defensive armament. The aircraft was to have heavy offensive armament. One of the proposed armament fits comprised a 37-mm nose cannon, two 23-mm cannon and four 12.7-mm or 7.62-mm machineguns.
The aircraft would be able to carry internally a normal bomb load of 600 kg (1,320 Ib), its maximum bomb load reaching 1,000 kg(2,205 Ib).
We also know a few options with different geometry wings and vertical tail fin/washers.The preliminary design was approved on the eve of the war, by which time the aircraft had been redesignated IL-6. A mock-up was completed in the spring of 1941. When the war broke out, however, the OKB and the aircraft factories were too busy increasing output and eliminating the defects of the production IL-2, and the project was shelved (the IL-6 designation was later re-used for a twin-engined bomber powered by diesel engines.

Despite the fact that the project TBSh-2 was approved by the Air Force and NCAP in war to realize it did not succeed.
