I've just discovered that someone was looking at 'space rescue' at least four years before the film version of Marooned appeared.

in 1967 NAA proposed a 6 men Apollo logistic craft
It also gave a rescue option because the Capsule stay dock on Space station

1970 NAA proposed a 6 to 8 men rescue Apollo capsule launch by the shuttle
then dock on space station or Space Base

Also from 1965 (& possibly related to the item in the OP), RAND proposed that in the event man-rating of the Saturn V was not possible, that a 'ferry' CSM carrying a drogue docking unit be designed so that a modified EOR mission profile could be used, with a CSM/SatIb stack being launched into orbit followed by an unmanned CSM/LM/SatV stack.
