in 2010 French DGA decided that the NH Industries NH-90 helicopter will be named Caïman for the NH-90/TTH utility version and Caïman Marine for the NH-90/NFH shipborne variant. I heard that Italian peoples connected with the development of the naval version (of AgustaWestland responsability) already call it "il Caimano".
Perhaps NH Industry could choose Caiman or Cayman as an official name for all the version... even if today naming of European aircraft seems to be a real "state affair"!
