Kocherigin DI-6
« on: July 18, 2015, 11:53:01 pm »
The Kocherigin DI-6 was a two-seat biplane fighter with retractable landing gear and used by the Soviet Airforce.

Experimental were the aeroplane "21" this was a version with fixed landing gear.
I only found pictures with skies.
Who can tell me more about this version?
Has it also flowen with wheel landing gear and are there any pictures?
Is there a three side vieuw drawing of the "21"?

There should have be also a trainer version without the gunturret.
I have nothing found of this version so everything is welcome?

Thanks, this all well known information

The side view was extracted from a larger five-view plan which strongly suggests no remarkable difference in other views, since only the profile view is modified...

(note that it is also called the "DI-62" on the profile view):
The plane "21" was originally designed for the new at the time the engine M-62 (hence it is a duplicate designation DI-62)

The plane "21" has made 39 test flights, from January to March 23, 1938. All flights he was doing skiing (because it was snowing). This explains the lack of photos of the aircraft on wheels.
The second copy was not completed because:
1) absence (at the time) of the motor M-62, which was designed for this modification.
2) and the main reason for the final lifting of a year-end production base DI-6.

The scheme Di-6Sh (ground attack version), an early variant with a raised stabilizer.
Offensive armament consisted of two machine guns synchronized PV-1, four machine guns PV-1, installed under the bottom wing with special fairings , ammunition 3000 (overload in 4000) rounds of ammunition and bomb load up to 80 kg (8-10 kg bombs) 4 under the wing, 4 under the fuselage). Thus on underwing nodes were suspended two Aviapribor deluge of chemical weapons such as VAP-6.
