An extremely rare and original manufacturer's resin prototype model of the N.D.N Aviation FIRECRACKER basic military trainer. To quote from a press article at the time of it's launch (the 80's I think): 'unveiled at Farnborough this aircraft was built at Goodwood, Sussex. The Firecracker has been designed to be built by people or companies with little aviation experience - but it's no toy. In fact, John Britten and Des Norman of N.D.N Aviation think of it as a basic military trainer: it's designed to fly like a modern combat aircraft -'quite easy to fly badly but challenging the pilot to fly it well,' says Norman. He is convinced that he will find a buyer for this very original design.'
The model measures: Wingspan 40cm, length 38cm, overall height on 30mm thick rectangular solid hardwood plinth: 30cm. Painted in a desert scheme with pale blue and white roundels the model is in good overall condition, a few scuffs on the spinner with just a minor chip underneath on the edge of the lower fuselage - easily touched in as well as two seriously tiny chips on the port wing tip (about the size of a grain of sugar, but I'm being picky here!), a tiny flake off the rudder trim tab. The white part of the hand painted roundels are faded through cleaning. A model depicting a rare but important part of British aviation.
